Kebaya is a type of traditional clothing that can be found in various regions in Indonesia. You can not only find kebaya in Java but also when visiting Bali. Even though it looks the same, the Balinese kebaya has characteristics that make it different from the kebaya commonly used by people of the Javanese ethnic.
Balinese people often wear traditional kebaya on various occasions. In fact, the kebaya has become a traditional outfit that must be worn when praying at temples. Even though it is labeled as traditional clothing, the kebaya is proven to be one of the favorite clothes. Moreover, traditional kebaya originating from Bali has an attractive design, not inferior to modern clothes.
The description above is a brief overview of the Balinese kebaya. On this occasion, I will show you how to create a digital Balinese kebaya painting with watercolor effect techniques using photoshop. I will explain briefly, how the stages and how I created the image above.
- The image size I'm using is 1,380 px X 1,380 px, with an image resolution of 300 ppi
- Create the background with a colorful watercolor effect using watercolor brush tools according to your imagination
- The painting is a combination of 2 different images, i.e. the model and wildflowers. The original image of the model can be found here, and the original image of the wildflowers can be found here
- For each image (the model, and the wildflowers, use the filter - noise - greyCstoration, after that use the filter - artistic - watercolor
- Duplicate the background image that has been made, change the blend mode to overlay (opacity 71%);
- For each background image use the filter - noise - greyCstoration, after that use the filter - artistic - watercolor
- Place the image of the model on top of the background layer, use the layer mask technique to display the model's image without a background
- Place the image of the wildflowers on the top of the model image
- For each image (background, the model, and wildflowers use the filter - noise - greyCstoration, after that use the filter - artistic - watercolor
- Duplicate the model image that has been made, change the blend mode to overlay (opacity 64%);
- Use the watercolor effect brush tools for layer masks on the model.
- For the wildflowers (left and right side), each uses the blend mode to linear burn (opacity 100%)
- Duplicate the wildflowers (left and right side), change the blend mode to multiply (opacity 93%) for the left side, and hard light (opacity 79%)
- Then sharpen each image using the filter - sharpen - smart sharpen
- To create a painting effect on canvas using filter - filter gallery - texture- texturizer (burlap) with scaling 67%, and relief 6
- Color effects using vibrance (with vibrance 0, and saturation -16)
- Lighting effects using brightness and contrast (with contrast -10, and brightness 32)
- As the final of the steps mentioned above, give the finishing touches according to your imagination and creativity.
