Angry Rhino in Digital Acrylic Painting

Angry Rhino in Digital Acrylic Painting

Who doesn't know a rhino?  This wild animal with horns was very interesting for me to paint digitally.  In this article I show you a digital painting of an angry rhino.  I made this painting using an acrylic painting effect technique using photoshop.

For painting the angry rhino, the original image source can find here: link

How to create the angry rhino painting above using acrylic painting effect? Below the technique I use:

  1. Use resolution 300 ppi, and image size used 1380 px; 1380 px,
  2. For the background & rhino using multi-layer + layer mask
  3. Create an acrylic painting effect for the background using the acrylic effect brush tools
  4. For the background using a single layer, the blending mode used is normal mode (opacity 100%)
  5. For the model rhino using 2 layers, the blending mode used is normal mode (opacity 100%) + overlay (opacity 37%)
  6. For each image uses the filter - noise - greyCstoration, after that use the filter - artistic - watercolor
  7. Use the acrylic effect brush tools for layer masks
  8. Then sharpen each image using the filter - sharpen - smart sharpen
  9. Lighting effects using brightness and contrast (with contrast -34, and brightness 75)
  10. Color effects using vibrance (with vibrance 0, and saturation -30)

The method used as mentioned above really depends on how your taste and creativity are.
