Beautiful Samurai Girl

Beautiful Samurai Girl

Painting is not just a matter of drawing, coloring, or scribbling on canvas or blank paper. Painting can go beyond these things. It can be a unique form of communication between us as painters with brush, paint, canvas, and paper as a medium for painting. In painting, in order to produce a good painting, we must first identify the painting media that we will use. One of the most important painting media that you should know about is watercolor.

Watercolor is the oldest painting media compared to other painting media. Apart from its status as the oldest, this watercolor medium is also considered to be the most difficult painting medium to master. However, once we feel comfortable with this medium, it will be difficult to switch to other media.

In this day and age, with the rapid growth of digital technology, watercolor paintings can be made digitally. For example, in this post, I present a digital watercolor painting using photoshop with the object is a beautiful samurai girl. The original image can be found here, and the brief methods to create the above image are as follows :

  1. Image size used 1380 px; 1380 px, resolution 300 ppi
  2. Using multi-layer + layer mask (background, samurai girl model, wildflower)
  3. For the background and  samurai girl model each using 2 layers, the blending mode used is normal mode + soft light (opacity about 70%)
  4. For the wildflowers using 2 layers,  the blending mode used is normal (opacity 100%) + color burn (opacity 91%)
  5. To create a watercolor painting effect, each image uses the filter - noise - greyCstoration, after that use the filter - artistic - watercolor
  6. Use the watercolor effect brush tools for layer masks
  7. Then sharpen each image using the filter - sharpen - smart sharpen
  8. To create a painting effect on canvas using filter - filter gallery - texture- texturizer (canvas)
  9. Lighting effects using brightness and contrast (with contrast -18, and brightness 31)
  10. Color effects using vibrance (with vibrance 0, and saturation -17)
Please mind, the method used as mentioned above really depends on how your creativity is.... enjoy
